El Tabernaculo de Salvacion y Alabanza
Sister Christina Gregorio

Pastora Cristina Gregorio and her daughter Milly Bello left Brooklyn Tabernacle in January 1997 to return to Cristina’s old home in the DR. She began holding meetings in her home and a small house church was formed. As the church kept growing, P. Cristina gave up her home to be rebuilt as a much larger 2 story church building. The church, El Tabernaculo de Salvacion y Alabanza, has now grown to about 75 adults and 100 children. Earlier in 2006, El Tabernaculo began conducting weekly outreaches in a very poor suburb of Santo Domingo called ‘Kilometer 36’. This area has very little Gospel witness and has much voodoo, witchcraft and prostitution, but there’s a great hunger for the Lord. They have seen a tremendous response from the people and many have accepted Christ for the first time. An evangelistic group goes out weekly house by house conducting home outreaches throughout the entire neighborhood. They are renting an old disco building that is in the process of being refurbished as a church building.

Elsie

Haiti

Port–au–Prince, Haiti
Sister Elsie Lherisson

Elsie Lherisson was born and raised in Haiti, but when she came to New York, she never wanted to return. She had a successful business career in New York when she got saved and began attending Brooklyn Tabernacle. In only a few years, the Lord called Elsie back to Haiti and she left her career behind. In 1988, she went to work as a school administrator at Christian Haitian Outreach in Carrefour, Haiti. In 1996, she began a children’s ministry called Caribbean Grace Tabernacle in Port–au–Prince. Her first children’s ministry meeting started with 25 children. Now, there are about 400 children and young people attending her ministry from toddler age to young adults. Caribbean Grace Tabernacle now has many ministries, outreaches and programs that evolved over the years. Evangelistic teams go out weekly to the prisons, hospitals and nursing homes of the capital. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and Elsie’s ministry serves the poorest of the poor. The continued political instability, rampant violence and kidnapping in Port–au–Prince make the work difficult and challenging. However, despite these challenges, Elsie’s young people are being trained to be the future spiritual leaders of the nation.

David and Linda

Years ago, The Brooklyn Tabernacle sent out David and Linda, to share the Good News of Y'shua to the Jewish people. Although there is freedom of religion in Israel, the reality is that it is very difficult to share the Gospel with others. Over the centuries, many horrible things have been committed against the Jewish people in the name of Christ, so they are understandably very wary and suspicious of Christians. Despite the many difficulties and barriers, David and Linda have demonstrated the love of Christ to their neighbors.

Surrounding the Jewish area that David and Linda live in, are many Arab villages. Despite tremendous threats and persecutions, David went into these villages to share his faith and hand out Bibles to the villagers. By the grace of God, many turned to Jesus as their Savior. However, others did not and greatly resisted the Gospel and persecuted the believers and their families. Many ex-Muslim believers face tremendous persecution, jail, torture and exclusion from their society because of their faith, but they know that they've found the Pearl of great price.

For years, David and Linda's congregation consisted of Jews, Arabs and Gentiles worshipping together in their home. Now, because of the violence of the Intifadah, the Palestinians can no longer come to their home to worship together so David must go out to meet them in private locations, all under threat of violence. The others continue to meet and worship in a private house.
