From the Pastor's Desk
“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit."
1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
We are nearing the highest and most glorious of all religious holidays - Easter Sunday! The perfect and sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ, defied death and the grave and arose on the third day following His crucifixion. Hallelujah… He is risen!
Jesus died FOR us, that is, His was a substitutionary death. He was the perfect Lamb of God who alone could make atonement for the sins of mankind…your sins and mine. Why would God go to such an extent to save lost sinners? Firstly, not only was it because of His great love for us, but also “to bring you safely home,” to live with Him for all eternity! This world is not our home; we are pilgrims passing through, eagerly awaiting the return of our Lord and Savior, who is busy at work preparing a place for us. He assures us, “When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be where I am.” (John 14:3)
May you experience God’s love and grace in a greater way this Easter Sunday. Lastly, may your desire be to know Him more and to make Him known until “His glorious appearing."
Because He lives!
